Urban Typography Workshop
Typography with an urban twist
17 | 18 January 2008, from 10.00 - 17.00

A two-day workshop centered on experimenting with urban designs. Use materials such as frames, stencil sheets and light projections to play with the forms of letters and the role of language in the urban environment. Make rapid prototypes with the FabLab machines and get inspired by the invigorating graffiti artist ZEDZ and (graphic) designer Mirthe Blussé.

Raimundas Malasauskas

PUBLIC LECTURE BY RAIMUNDAS MALASAUSKAS
Dec. 19, 2007, 19.30h

Location: Piet Zwart Institute, Rotterdam

On that Obscure Demand of John Fare

"Rainy morning in Paris, 10 am, Hotel Richmond 15, Rue De Dunkerque
entrance from the Gare du Nord. Door opens, Gabriel Lester steps in.
Room No. 65 is booked for him (and probably for someone else). Gabriel
Lester signs in and goes to his room taking a little small elevator.
Later that day or most likely next morning, John Fare leaves the room
and signs out of the hotel.

So where did he go from the hotel?"

Darius Miksys. Resurrection of John Fare. 2007

In his presentation, Raimundas Malasauskas will introduce a selection
of material from the John Fare Estate alongside attempts of a number of
artists and thinkers to delve into disappearance, embrace of the limit,
escape artistry, the improbable, and the industry of the undead.

Raimundas Malasauskas investigates eventology, tele-action and
production of value; has talked to George Maciunas, Seth Siegelaub,
Rammelzee, Ian Wilson, Darius Miksys, Tino Sehgal and others, forwarded
the telepathic message of Robert Bary to Jonathan Monk (during the
exhibition "The Gallery will be Open", Jan Mot Gallery, Brussels,
2003), has written about Barbara Stanwyck, leisure and time machines,
has curated various exhibitions, including "BMW" (co-curated with Sofia
Hernandez Chong Cuy and Alexis Vaillant, CAC Vilnius/ICA London.) He is
a founding member of Vilnius Bolshoi Circus.

A lecture in the framework of the thematic seminar "One-Eye, Two-Eyes,
and Three-Eyes - On the Notion of Storytelling" held at the Piet Zwart
